WisEngineering, LLC is currently interviewing candidates for an immediate position with our company in support of ongoing Department of Defense programs at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, NJ. Candidate must be US Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.  Successful candidate will be a direct (W2) employee of WisEngineering.

Position Title: Technical Writer / Public Affairs Specialist (Journalist)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field required.

Job Summary
WisEngineering is seeking a skilled Technical Writer/Journalist to develop and edit articles that make complex technical and scientific subjects understandable to broad audiences. The role requires strong AP Style mastery, interviewing skills, and the ability to manage multiple writing projects on deadline. You will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to highlight Picatinny Arsenal’s innovations in armaments and munitions, producing clear, accurate, and engaging content.

Desired Experience
  • Professional experience as a journalist or technical writer (portfolio required).
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines in fast-paced environments.
  • Extensive AP Style experience (required and will be assessed).
  • Experience interviewing SMEs and simplifying complex topics.
  • Substantial editing experience preparing materials for broad audiences.

  • Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to simplify technical material while preserving accuracy.
  • Adaptable writing style suited to audience and platform.
Key Responsibilities:

Content Development & Writing
  • Research, write, and edit feature articles, news releases, and public affairs content.
  • Interview engineers, scientists, and program managers to ensure accuracy and capture compelling stories.
  • Translate technical information into clear, accessible content for both technical and general readers.
Editing & Style Adherence
  • Ensure all materials follow Associated Press (AP) style plus Army/DoD publication standards.
  • Review and edit content for grammar, punctuation, clarity, and consistency.
  • Serve as final quality check, correcting gaps, redundancies, or errors before publication.

Project Management & Collaboration
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Work with the Public Affairs team and SMEs to develop story ideas aligned with mission goals.
  • Adapt writing for different platforms (web, social media, trade publications).
